"Chief Technology Officers (CTO) are currently garnering annual salaries in

The Problem
The Problem –
Traditional Access to a Technology Architect/Advisor
The challenge for many organizations is how to transition into a technically
advanced, highly competitive, and profitable operation when a key element
such as a Technology Architect has such a high cost. Competent Chief
Technology Officers (CTO) are currently garnering annual salaries in excess
of $150,000.00. Whether an organization can afford to employ a full time CTO
is not the issue, more importantly it cannot afford the costly mistake of
buying technology products, services, and consulting without the guidance of
just such an expert. Trying to replace this missing capability within an
organization by attempting to knit together the functions of a Technology
Architect using experts from technology vendors, consultants from accounting
firms and technology savvy general business consultants - usually results in
a Frankenstein-like solution that provides little benefit and results in a
high cost of adoption and ownership for an organizations technology
platform.
For many organizations the services of a Technology Architect may not be
required on a daily basis. An annual planning and budgetary meeting, along
with quarterly reviews, occasional decision support and project design and
oversight - can be sufficient to provide the coordination and guidance
required for maintaining a cost effective and functional technology
infrastructure.
Even though the traditional practice of having a full time CTO is out of the
reach of most small to medium sized organizations, the need for just such a
resource is becoming more and more critical to any organization’s success.
